Government Support for Corn Farmers
A government agency will purchase corn at the minimum support price (MSP) rate from farmers during the Kharif season. The central government procurement agency, Nafed, has informed corn farmers about this opportunity. Farmers should register on the government procurement portal, e-Samriddhi, to receive a fair price for their produce. The Center has increased the MSP of corn by $0,011 per kg for the 2023-24 season. Cooperative societies Nafed and NCCF, under the Central Government’s Cooperative Ministry, are purchasing pulses and corn from farmers online. In contrast, the government institution FCI purchases wheat and other crops.
Registration and Fair Pricing
NAFED emphasized that every farmer deserves a fair price for their crop. Corn producers should now register on the e-Samriddhi portal to sell their corn crop at a fair price. The Ministry of Cooperation will purchase corn produce at the MSP rate through the e-Samriddhi portal. The central government has fixed the MSP of corn at $0,25 per kg for the 2023-24 crop season. Previously, it was $0,23 per kg in 2022-23 and $0,22 per kg in 2021-22. This initiative aims to ensure that farmers receive adequate compensation for their hard work.
The government’s decision to purchase corn at the increased MSP rate reflects its commitment to supporting farmers. By registering on the e-Samriddhi portal, maize producers can ensure they receive fair prices for their crops. This effort will help stabilize the agricultural economy and provide farmers with much-needed financial security.
