Low Turnover as Summer Approaches
Market participants in Tianjin report a significant slowdown in the sunflower seed market as summer approaches. Turnover has decreased, and prices have fallen, with traders primarily focused on digesting existing inventory. The export market demand remains weak, and importers are cautious in their procurement, replenishing stocks only as needed.
Expected Price Decline
According to Zhuochuang Information, the price of sunflower seeds is expected to decline further during the summer. The domestic sunflower market will enter its off-season, characterized by low supply and light demand across all regions.
Current Export Prices
This week, the export reference price for 361 standard sunflower seeds (200-210 grains/50g) ranges from $1,640 to $1,670 per tonne. For sunflower seeds with 190-200 grains/50g, the export reference price is between $1,700 and $1,730 per tonne. Market participants are advised to closely monitor price changes.
The approaching summer season brings a challenging period for the sunflower seed market, with expected price declines and low demand. Traders and importers should stay vigilant and responsive to market fluctuations to navigate this off-season effectively.
