Odesa – Many Ukrainian agrarians in the South of the country are finishing early grains harvesting and switch to niche products. More and more millet new crop 2021 appear on the market. This year Ukraine expects a record crop of millet with a total yield of over 300 000 t. But millet statistics in Ukraine is always very approximate because state reports don’t cover all sown areas.
Despite the start of millet harvesting, prices in Ukraine are not changing a lot. Yellow and red millet purchase prices in main ports remain 225-230 $/t. Creamy and black millet offers will be available in September. Such prices freeze can be explained by buyers’ expectations for the new crop at 200 $/t, while farmers are not ready for such a decrease and prefer to keep the cargo and watch the market trends.
