Egypt’s citrus export season has commenced with production marginally higher than last year, supported by favourable weather conditions, improved farm management, and optimal harvest timing, according to industry sources.
Egyptian Emirati Import & Export has begun shipments of Valencia oranges, Navel oranges, Murcott mandarins, and lemons. Exporters report stable volumes and consistent quality, with harvesting carried out at peak maturity under standard food safety and quality protocols.
Demand for Egyptian citrus remains steady across established markets, including Europe, the Gulf region, Russia, CIS countries, and Asia. Exporters note a visible increase in demand from Latin America, particularly Brazil, where competitive pricing and reliable supply are supporting higher intake for both fresh consumption and juice processing.
Price levels are broadly in line with last season, with variations linked to fruit size, variety, and freight costs. Despite logistical cost pressures, Egyptian citrus continues to remain competitive in international markets.
Separately, exporters are expanding their overseas footprint. Egyptian Emirati Import & Export has recently opened an office in Murcia, Spain, strengthening its access to European fresh produce trade hubs, alongside existing operations in the United Arab Emirates.
