A Forecast From Ukrainian Farmers: Areas Under Sunflower Seeds Will Be Reduced

Spread the news!

For the last two years, Ukrainian farmers have been forced to abandon development plans and focus on survival. Large-scale war, occupation of territories, field mining, export restrictions, blockade of ports, and crazy prices for fuel and fertilizer; This is not a complete list of problems for them. In this case, oilseeds have become the most profitable product for agriculturalists. Planting areas of sunflower seeds, soybeans, and rapeseed increased instead of grains. Sunflower has traditionally held a leading position in Ukraine.

Everyone thought that it was necessary to somehow survive in 2022 and that everything would be easier then. In 2023, the situation did not improve and the areas under this crop increased again. And sunflower is the crop that robs the next crop: Other crops planted after it will have low yields. And now this is a big problem because it is difficult to start a normal crop rotation.

Of course, farmers are trying to choose crops in such a way that they can get through difficult times and start normal crop rotation. It’s not a good idea to give up oilseeds right now.
