Argentina Agrarians Slowed Down the Pace of Crop Sales

According to the estimates of the Ministry of Agriculture of Argentina, the country’s agrarians in the period December 29-January 4 sold 142.5 thousand tons of soybeans of the harvest-2021/22, which is significantly less than the volume of the previous week (551 thousand tons), while forward sales of oilseeds of the new harvest for the week also decreased to 33.4 (-73.2) thousand tons.

Sales of the old corn crop also slowed down – in the specified period, 671.8 thousand tons were sold against 1 million tons a week earlier and wheat – 10.2 thousand tons against 12.8 thousand tons a week earlier. At the same time, agrarians for the week intensified forward sales of the harvest-2022/23 of these crops, including corn – up to 76.5 (+ 11.4) thousand tons, wheat – up to 6.7 (+ 0.1) thousand tons.

As of January 4, Argentina has already sold 35.4 million tons of soybeans of the harvest-2021/22 (37.3 million tons a year earlier) and 2.7 (4.9) million tons of the harvest-2022/23, corn – 44.8 (47.3) million tons and 6.9 (14.3) million tons, respectively, wheat – 23 (17.4) million tons and 6.7 (13.7) million tons.
