DALIAN – July is the slack season for buckwheat kernels in China. The domestic demand is weak, the port export orders are reduced, and the processing plants opening probability is low. Most manufacturers stopped purchasing raw buckwheat and try to decrease their stocks. However, the downstream demand is difficult to pull up.
There are still some buckwheat imports from Russia at border crossings, which is strange because the market has insufficient demand. Market participants believe that the price of buckwheat kernels produced in China is unlikely to rise in the short term, but prices in some areas will fall slightly. This week, the price of FOB Dalian is USD 1.250/mt, down USD 50 per ton compared to last week.
