The direct container vessel carrying black gram from Yangon has already reached Chennai port. Approximately 50,000-70,000 MT of black gram and red gram is expected to ship for India in June month.
As per Burma-based local traders, Indian buyers were active in purchasing large quantities at lower rates. However, sellers were least interested in liquidating their stock at lower prices. Container charges are higher due to shortage. Freight charges in the container around $130-$150.
Arrivals of summer crop black gram have already begun at Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Summer crop new black gram traded in the range of Rs. 6000-6500/100 kg at Jabalpur and Rs. 6800-7000/100 kg at Veraval market.
