In the season 2023/24 farmers of Canada may harvest about 18.3 million tons of canola, which is 2% below the 2022/23 MY level. This is reported by Reuters with reference to Statistics Canada forecast. Over the month, experts raised the estimate of the gross harvest of the oilseed by 0.9 million tons.
Also, according to the statistics agency, the country will produce 32 million tons of wheat in the current agricultural year against 29.8 million tons in the previous report.
“The upward adjustment was made against the backdrop of higher projected yields due to precipitation at the end of summer,” the specialists note, emphasizing that the expected result is still one of the lowest in 6 years.
It is also noted that farmers in Canada have already harvested 24.8 million tons of spring wheat, which exceeds the previous estimate (22.6 million tons).
The durum wheat harvest is estimated at 4 million tons, the second-lowest harvest in the last 13 years.
