Dalian: Traders reported that the price of sunflower seeds in China has started to rise in the past two weeks. Studies have shown that the notable increase is the sharp decline in sunflower seed production in Xinjiang, the delay in launching sunflower seeds in Inner Mongolia, and the lack of old products left. The merchants have begun to push the prices too high.
The current price of new products is higher than that of the same period last year. However, due to the current price instability, importers are cautious in purchasing. Market participants predict that market prices will fall after Inner Mongolia sunflower kernels are listed in mid-October. This week, the export standard reference quotations for exporters confectionary-grade sunflower seed kernels FOB Dalian or Tianjin 1.550 USD/ton, and bakery-grade sunflower kernels FOB Tianjin or Dalian USD 1.530/ton. Recently, exporters have gradually increased their inquiries for new products, mainly from the US, Germany, the Netherlands, the Middle East, and Southeast Asian markets, but generally reflect that the prices are too high.
