The export of Iranian cumin increased by about 15 percent in September this year compared to August. Also, the export of this product has grown by more than 170 percent this month compared to September last year. More than 93 percent of Iranian cumin was exported to Turkey and the United Arab Emirates in September this year.

Customs statistics
According to Iran customs statistics, 317,694 kilograms of cumin worth 626,433 USD were exported in September this year. The average price of each kilogram of cumin was 1.97 USD in September 2022. The main customers of Iranian cumin this month were Turkey, which imported 197,000 kilograms worth 393,708 USD (1.99 USD per kilogram), and the United Arab Emirates, which imported 100,000 kilograms worth 200,000 USD. The shares of these two countries are respectively 62 percent and 31.5 percent of Iran’s total export of cumin this month.
Increasing demand
The export of Iranian cumin has grown by 16 percent in terms of weight and by 14.7 percent in terms of export value in September this year compared to the previous month (August 2022). 273,785 kilograms of cumin worth 546,195 USD (1.99 USD per kilogram) were exported in August this year. The demand for all types of Iranian cumin increased in September compared to August due to the arrival of more new year products in the market and increased supply, which caused a rise in exports this month compared to August.
171 percent grow in export rate
Also, the exports have risen in September this year compared to September last year. 116,944 kilograms of cumin worth 231,480 USD (1.98 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran in September 2021. The export rate of this crop has grown by about 171 percent in September 2022 compared to September 2021. The most important reason for the significant increase in the export of this product in September this year is the rise in production and cumin inventory compared to last year. The exports decreased sharply due to the severe shortage of the product in September 2021. However, this year it increased again due to the rise in production.
