INDIA: Despite the sluggish activity in the market due to the high temperature, experts believe that the prices of dry ginger are expected to increase in the coming days. Mainly with monsoon expected to hit the South Indian coasts in the next seven to eight days, the buying of dry ginger is expected to get stronger.
Current Scenario
The Meteorological Department stated that the monsoon could reach Kerala after May 20. But even with temperatures reaching about 45- 46 degrees Celsius, the buyers have become inactive in the market, mainly in North Indian states.
Due to this, after the recent rally of $0,06 per kg, it has remained stable here.
In Kochi, Kerala, about three and a half months ago, the new dry ginger started arriving. However, the arrival has not been regularized yet in the primary spot markets of the state.
In Azadpur price of ginger has increased in the local wholesale fruit vegetable market. Ginger comes from places like Azadpur, only from Bangalore. It was reported that there was negligible arrival of dry ginger in the Konni market.
Aurangabad is selling the commodity at a comparatively low price. It is making the crushers and millers attracted to the ginger from the region. It is to be known that despite the attractive price of ginger in the country, farmers are taking comparatively less interest in making dry ginger for the last several years.
Forecast
The market sentiments may get affected due to the forecast of an earlier onset of monsoon season than usual. In the coming days, the saunth (Ginger) may remain strong. With the prediction that the monsoon will reach soon, there is no fear of a recession in prices in the coming days.
