In the near future, a tender will be held in Egypt for the purchase of 40,000 tons of vegetable oil (30,000 tons of soybean oil and 10,000 tons of sunflower oil ). This is reported by market operators with reference to the information of the country’s state agency for food purchases GASC.
According to tender terms, oils should be supplied to the importer within the period from October 20 to November 10 this year and/or from November 11 to 31 this year on condition of payment by letter of credit after 180 days of contract conclusion.
Closing of the tender is scheduled for September 6.
Earlier , Egyptian Minister of Supply Ali El-Moseli said that the strategic reserves of vegetable oil in the country will meet the demand in the domestic market for 5.3 months .
In the structure of consumption of edible oils in Egypt, about half is sunflower oil, which is used daily by most households. Domestic sunflower production is low, so private processors rely on imported raw materials.
