The European Vegetable Oil Producers Association (FEDIOL) has calculated that EU oil extraction plants processed over 3 million tons of oilseeds in September 2023 (-0.23 million tons compared to the previous month). Overall, this figure has risen to almost 29 million tons since the beginning of the year (January-September), compared to 27.66 million tons in the same period of 2022.
Rapeseed
As for rapeseed, local enterprises processed 1.59 million tons of this crop in September (-11% vs. August) and 14.24 million tons in the first 9 months (+10% vs. January-September 2022).
Soybean
At the same time, the volumes of soybean processing sagged last month – by about 15% against August, to 954 thousand tons. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a 7% decline to 10.4 million tons.
Sunflower
Sunflower, on the contrary, shows an increase from month to month. In September 2023, 486 thousand tons of sunflower seeds were delivered for further processing to processing plants, which is 19% higher than a month earlier. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, the indicators have increased – by 18%, to more than 4.34 million tons.
