European Association of Vegetable Oil Producers (FEDIOL) estimates that in May 2023 oil extraction plants of EU processed about 3.32 million tons of oilseeds (-0.12 million tons against the previous month). Overall, since the beginning of the year (January-May), this figure rose to nearly 16.5 million tons compared to 16 million tons in the same period of 2022.
As for rapeseed, local enterprises in May processed 1.53 million tons of this crop (+6% as compared to April 2023) and 8.07 million tons within the first 5 months (+11% against January-May 2022).
At the same time the volume of soybean processing last month also increased – by about 4.5%, to 1.283 million tons. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a 7.5% decrease, from 6.43 million tons to 5.95 million tons.
Sunflower, on the contrary, has increased from month to month. There were 505 thousand tons of sunflower seeds for further processing at the crushing plants in May 2023, which is 6% more than a month earlier. Since the beginning of the year, the figures have increased – by 6%, to 2.46 million tons.
