Since the beginning of the full-scale military Russian invasion, the geography of Ukrainian flour exports has changed significantly.

If we compare the geography of exports, for example, with 2021, then these differences are simply enormous.

At the same time, during 2023, Ukraine did not ship flour to Southeast Asian countries such as Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Sub-Saharan Africa was also out of the play. Ghana, Sudan, Gambia and Ethiopia all together imported just 478 tonnes for the entire year. The volume of supplies to the UAE has also changed dramatically – from 27.893 thousand tons in 2021 to 683 tons in 2023. Somalia, Angola, Djibouti and some other countries that have been buying Ukrainian flour products for many years in a row had no sales at all last year.

Of course, this is due to logistical problems, and not at all to the refusal of Ukrainian products.

At the same time, Moldovan buyers, having imported 28.138 thousand tons of flour from Ukraine last year, actually returned to the volumes consumed in 2016-2019. Palestine also shows enviable consistency – 16,500 thousand tons in 2023 versus 15,97 thousand tons in 2021.

In general, Ukrainian flour millers shipped their products to 48 countries in 2023 and, most likely, will soon return to their former markets.

Ukrainian flour millers continue to increase purchasing prices for milling wheat.

According to APK-Inform news agency, at the beginning of this week, the majority of Ukrainian flour millers continue to increase purchase prices for milling wheat.

The supply of high-quality grain remains insufficient, and competition between processors and traders continues to increase, which continues to support prices.

Thus, from the beginning of the week, most processors increased prices by another 100-200 UAH. As of January 30, prices were mainly within the range of 7000-7700 UAH/t or 170-190 EUR/t on CPT basis.  It should be noted that some buyers continue to fix prices at the level of 6600-6800 UAH/t CPT. However it was mostly impossible to purchase wheat at these prices.
