JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” and the German company Rhenus SE signed a memorandum of understanding. The parties intend to work together to increase cargo traffic on the Trans-Caspian international transport route, the press service of KTZ reported.
The memorandum provides for cooperation in the development of logistics centers, increasing the terminal capacity of the ports of Aktau and Kuryk. Rhenus will provide technical and advisory support in the design of a container hub based on the port of Aktau.
The signed document will serve as an additional impetus for expanding the capabilities of TITR and will contribute to the development of the transit potential of Kazakhstan.
“The Middle Corridor is more than just a transit route. It provides access to a market with over 90 million consumers. Rhenus has been present in Central Asia for almost 30 years. In this region, we are focusing on supply chain stability and capacity, on developing and operating high-performance container terminals and shipping links on the Caspian Sea. Therefore, we plan to invest in corresponding handling capacities on the Middle Corridor in the long term,” explains Tobias Bartz, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of the Rhenus Group.
