Analysts of the national association of agricultural cooperatives Deutscher Raiffeisenverband (DRV) downgraded the forecast for rapeseed harvest in Germany in the season 2023/24 by 0.2 million tons compared to the indicator announced last month – to 4.1 million tons. The current estimate is also inferior to the result of the previous year, when 4.3 million tons of oilseeds were threshed.
As DRV experts note, the adjustments were carried out against the background of the last month’s drought, which was recorded in the country.
In this case, experts continue, production estimates in Germany also reduced for the group of cereals: on wheat – by 0.4 million tons, to 21.9 million tons (-0.6 million tons for the year); on barley – by 0.1 million tons, to 10.8 million tons (-0.4 million tons); on corn – by 0.3 million tons, to 3.7 million tons (-0.2 million tons).
“In particular, the gross harvest of winter wheat in the country is expected to 21.6 million tons (-0.5 million tons per year), spring wheat – 144.6 thousand tons (-132 thousand tons), wheat durum – 172.2 thousand tons (-31 thousand tons),” added the DRV.
