In Canada, Stocks of Rapeseed and Soybeans Increased

By the end of last year, stocks of the two main oilseeds (soybeans, rapeseed) in Canada rose to a level of 15.1 million tons, which is about a quarter higher than the level compared to the same period in 2021, according to a survey of local farmers conducted by Statistics Canada from December 14, 2022 to January 18, 2023.

As follows from the available information, rapeseed reserves at the end of December amounted to 11.4 million tons (+ 29%), and soybeans – 3.7 million tons (+ 14%).

An increase is also noted in grain crops: for example, wheat reserves amounted to 22.3 million tons, which is 33% higher than the result a year earlier, including durum wheat – 3.7 million tons (+ 46%).

“In addition, at the end of December 2022, the reserves of Canadian barley were estimated at 5.1 million tons (+ 61%), corn – at 11.8 million tons (+ 3%), oats – 3.6 million tons (+ 91%),” the report said.

Reserves of lentils were estimated at 1.4 million tons (+ 19%), dry peas – at 2.1 million tons (+ 33%).
