Global Rice Prices Reached 15 Year High

India’s kharif crop cultivation reached close to 1100 lakh hectare

Due to the recent heavy rainfall in the country, Kharif crop cultivation is likely to decline. Kharif crop cultivation decreased 1-2 per cent compared to last year at the same time.

According to the agriculture department’s recent report, Kharif sowing reported 1096 lakh hectares in since last week, which was 1106 lakh hectares last year at the same time period.

Cotton crop sowing reported 119.46 lakh hectares, 127 lakh hectares last year, declined by 6 per cent. Castor seeds sowing reported at 6.16 lakh hectares declined by 13 per cent compared to last year. Peanut sowing declined by 4 per cent, and cultivation reported 47.98 lakh hectares.

However, pulses cultivation increased by 2 per cent at 139.63 lakh hectares cultivated in 136.98 lakh hectares last year.
