By 2045, Indonesia will no longer import fossil fuels, instead, the country will develop the palm oil industry, said Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Indonesia’s coordinating minister for maritime affairs and investments.

“We are currently developing and researching palm oil because we believe that by 2045 we will be able to produce it in volumes of more than 100 million tons. Of this, 30% will be directed to food, and the remaining 70% we can use for alternative fuel, “the minister said, whose words are quoted by the local agency ANTARA.

He explained that Indonesia “will not need to import fossil fuels,” as its palm alternative is able to compensate for all losses.

“Indonesia has established cooperation with Malaysia, 74% of palm oil will come from these two countries,” Panjaitan added.

Earlier it was reported that the world’s largest producers of palm oil, Malaysia and Indonesia, decided to unite against the new bill of the European Union, affecting the supply of this product.
