Logistical Problems Have Suspended Export of Sunflower From Ukraine

The uncertainty of the duration of the grain corridor and the complication of the free movement of agricultural products through the EU countries led to a drop in domestic prices of major crops and a decline in demand on the part of importers. In particular, the export of sunflower, a significant part of which was exported by road through Poland, has actually been suspended. UkrAgroConsult writes about it.

“Sunflower exports have actually stopped. There is demand on the market from Italy, the indicative price is 470 euros per ton of sunflower with delivery in the second half of May, but it is still unclear how and in what quantity the trucks will move through Poland. Part of the sunflower will go to small ports – Reni, Kilia, and Ismail, which already has a negative pressure on prices. The fact that processors have now bought a lot of raw materials and that demand from factories is low also contributes to the price reduction,” says the analytical department of the cooperative “PUSK”.

Sunflower prices as of April 28, on the terms of CPT-factory may amount to UAH 14500-15500/t (355-380 EUR/t) with a subsequent reduction to UAH 13500-14500/t (330-355 EUR/t) in the second half of May. Also in the long term, we can expect a reduction in sunflower oil prices.
