Malaysia Reduced Export of Palm Oil in January

More than 453.7 thousand tons of palm oil was sold from Malaysia to foreign markets during the period from January 1 to January 15 this year, analysts Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) declared these data in its monitoring. In comparison with the same period of previous month export figures fell by 28.5% – from 634.6 thousand tons.

India is the main buyer, EU follows

The main buyer of Malaysian “palm” in the reporting period was India, which has reduced the volume of purchases from 129.14 tons (1-15 December) to 89.8 tons. The second position is held by the European Union, which also reduced the import – from nearly 138 tons to 85.45 tons. China rounded out the top three – 56.4 tons in the first half of last month against 24.3 thousand tons on January 1-15.

However, according to SGS, most of the shipments of Malaysian products came from palm olein and crude palm oil (crude palm oil, CPO) – 148.54 tons (124.3 tons – December 1-15) and 109 tons (193.54 tons), respectively.

Refined palm oil (37 thousand tons), stearin (20.9 thousand tons) and other products accounted for less significant sales.
