On January 4, Polish farmers renewed the blocking of truck traffic through the “Medyka-Shehyni” checkpoint on the border with Ukraine. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported this in its Telegram channel.
“According to information provided by Polish border guards, as of January 4th around 09:00, a cargo transport blockade has been reinstated on the road leading to the ‘Medyka’ checkpoint in Poland, adjacent to the Ukrainian checkpoint ‘Shehyni,'” states the message. “As a result, movement may encounter difficulties for both departing and incoming traffic to Poland.”
800 trucks are waiting
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine also noted that about 800 trucks are currently waiting to enter Ukraine on the territory of Poland in this direction. At the same time, the organizers of the blockade on the territory of Poland do not plan to impede the movement of buses and passenger vehicles.
According to the Polish mass media, the protest will last until February 3, 2024. The day before, the organizers of the blockade warned of the renewal of the protest, if the Polish authorities do not provide written confirmation of the fulfillment of their demands by January 3.
