Moldovan farmers are out protesting again even though talks were held with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry. Today, they will arrive in Chisinau with agricultural machinery. The police warn that traffic on several streets of Chisinau could be affected.
The law enforcement officers ask the participants in the protests, but also the citizens, to show understanding towards the public order and safety measures, to respect the Law and the instructions of the law enforcement agencies, so that the actions take place in optimal conditions.
“We urge both the organizers and the participants to show responsibility and not admit violations,” the Police statement reads.
Farmers’ protests that started on June 7 continue despite numerous discussions with Government representatives. Farmers say they are unhappy with the increase in fuel prices and the almost three-fold increase in loan interest. The farmers demand, among other things, a ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine, and an obligation for the Giurgiulesti port to export only Moldovan agricultural products.
