DALIAN – Market participants reported that Chinese exporters received more inquiries for organic lentils in July than in June. Overseas importers began to explore the pre-sale prices of lentils from the 2021 crop.
The prices of organic lentils in China are affected by the imported lentils from Canada. The prices of domestic organic lentils are not competitive and difficult to export. As a result, the price of organic lentils produced in China is difficult to rise in the short term.
Exporters predict that the price of new crop goods will be around USD 1.250 /mt. Due to difficult sales of imported lentils, a backlog of old crop lentils exceeded the demand.
This week’s price is around USD 1.300 /mt FOB Dalian or Tianjin. The shipping costs are still far too high and exports are slow. Exporters do not expect prices to rise until the lentils from new crop will be available in 2021.
