Haryana Participated The Most In Mustard Procurement
27th June, in the ongoing Rabi Marketing season, NAFED (National) procured about 0.919 Million Tonnes of mustard. Major participating states were Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh followed by 0.347 Million Tonnes, 0.294 Million Tonnes and 0.167 Million Tonnes of procurement figures respectively. It shows that the major participating state for mustard sales was Haryana followed by Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
From this procurement step, more than 0.384 Million farmers have benefited till now. The procurement procedures are still going on in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
Value of mustard procurement
NAFED procured mustard at an MSP (Minimum Support Price) of USD 0,66 per kg. The total value of the mustard procured at MSP stood at USD 610 Million as per the latest available data by NAFED. The value of mustard procurement from Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh was USD 230 Million, USD 195.5 Million and USD 111.21 Million. The rest of the values are accumulated from the other states.
Downtrend in edible oils
Imports in edibles have continued and increased in the present year at lesser prices. Recently prices of edible oil in the international market have decreased and shown a downtrend in the prices. This has an impact on mustard prices in the domestic market. In the present fiscal year imports of edible oils have increased and imports are 9.05 Million Tonnes as compared to 7.54 Million Tonnes in the same period of the previous year.
In the global market, particularly in the countries like South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and other Far East Countries; Indian rapeseed mustard is available at the best price which makes India stand in the competitive market. The Solvent Extractors Association of India has given data and as per that data rapeseed meal shipments registered a new record at 2.29 Million Tonnes in the present fiscal year 2023. In the current year, the exports of rapeseed meal stood at 0.48 Million Tonnes during April – May as compared to 0.39 Million Tonnes in the same period of last year.
The second advance estimate says that the production of rapeseed mustard during 2022-23 was at a record of 12.81 Million Tonnes over the previous year of 11.96 Million Tonnes.
