More Than 2 Million Tonnes of Chana is Procured
9th of June – Friday, in the ongoing Rabi season 2022-23, the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) has procured Chana (Bengal gram) at Minimum Support Price (MSP). The total procurement of Chana by NAFED is 2.2 Million Tonnes till Friday. The MSP of Chana is USD 64.5 per quintal.
The total value of the procurement is approximately over USD 144 Million so far. By this, over 0.973 Million farmers have benefitted. But if we compare it with the previous season, then NAFED had procured a total 2.5 Million Tonnes of Chana. This shows lesser procurement has been done this year.
State Wise Procurement
The procurement procedure is going on in the key producing States like Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan while in the Southern States it has ended.
- In Madhya Pradesh, 0.797 Million Tonnes have been procured as compared to the previous season’s 0.802 Million Tonnes.
- In Rajasthan, 0.016 Million Tonnes have been procured as compared to 0.299 Million Tonnes in the previous year.
- In Gujarat, the procurement stood at 0.327 Million Tonnes while it was 0.559 Million Tonnes in the previous year.
- In Maharashtra, the procurement is done over 0.729 Million Tonnes over the previous season’s 0.76 Million Tonnes.
- In the States of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana procurement stood at 79.6k Tonnes, 72k Tonnes, 11.6k, and 50.2k Tonnes respectively. Compared to the previous year procurement is lesser in the current fiscal year.
