BEIJING – According to customs statistics, in the past three years, China imported just a small number of organic black beans.
In 2019, only in February (39,2 tons), November (135,76 tons), and December (976 tons) Chinese traders imported black beans with a total import volume of 1.160,96 tons.
In 2020, there are only imports in January and March, which are 119,4 tons and 87,08 tons respectively, and the total imports are 206,48 tons. The year-on-year decline was 82,21%. In the first five months of 2021, there were no imports of organic black beans. Organic black beans in China are self-sufficient, and the import quality and price are not appreciated by the producers, so the import volume of organic black beans is relatively small.
Therefore, the imported goods have no impact on the price of organic black beans in China. But with export markets slow and producers anxious to sell, the prices fell this week to USD 1.350 /mt, down from USD 1,400 /mt last week. Market participants expect no change in prices over the next week.
