DALIAN – Market participants reported that the number of Italian importers purchasing organic lentils decreased 35% this year compared with last year. This led to slow exports of organic lentils, as Italy is the main export market for organic lentils.
China also imported many Canadian lentils at the beginning of the year, and the impact on the market still exists. The price of organic lentils in China is affected by its imports from Canada, and this week exporters hope to stimulate the market with small price cuts, down to USD 1.330 a ton. Market participants predict prices to continue to decline at least until arrivals of further shipments will stop.
