Price Stability at Chinese Pumpkin Kernel Market

Dalian: This week, the Chinese pumpkin kernel price was the same as last week. Affected by market demand and price, the export market was stagnant,  increasing the importer’s procurement cost. The mainly traded product is shine skin pumpkin seeds in the export market due to the shortage of GWS pumpkin seeds.

There is a shortage of raw materials for GWS pumpkin seeds in the market. With traders generally buying at lower prices, sourcing has become more difficult.  Currently, the main exporters export pumpkin seed kernels shine skin AA and A. Due to the lack of GWS raw materials, it is difficult for buyers to purchase GWS pumpkin seeds. The cost increases and the export quantity is limited. Exporters do not expect prices of pumpkin seeds to drop significantly in the short term.

High prices lead to a decline in both export and domestic trade demand. In addition, sea freight is too high, exporters are in a bad position and the export situation is difficult to change in the short term. Exporters are looking forward to lower purchasing costs and ocean freight rates, as well as an upturn in the market.
