The first week of 2022 is dominated by a sleepy start among grain traders and manufacturers. Demand-side is active at last year finished level and currently no sign of decreasing movement, that is the feed mixing firms, bakeries and mills are purchasing as they did in the previous weeks of the past year. The suppliers are more cautious and lament how they should act: waiting for a further price increase or starting to sell the stocks at lower levels.
The inflation pressure does not seem to mitigate. The ruler party of Hungary has ordered price stop of 6 basic foods (white sugar, flour BL55, pork ham, sunflower oil, cow milk, chicken meat) at last year October level in Hungary, sending the message to the players of the economy about its idea of inflation, unless this step is a political action which targeting the participants of the imminent national elections being in April.
