Finally, we can say, that harvest 2023 in Ukraine has officially started. Odesa and Mykolaiv regions started harvesting barley. Nevertheless, farmers have no reason for joy. Downward price dynamics in the feed barley sector continued this week as well.
Pressure on prices was exerted by the approach of the harvesting campaign all over the country, as well as a decrease in demand from the main consumers. Also, the gradual decrease in prices was influenced by the corresponding trend in the export market.
Thus, as of June 22, demand prices for feed barley are fixed most often in the range of 5000-6000 UAH/t CPT (134-162 $/t), which is 100-200 UAH/t lower than the indicators of the end of last week. Farmers receive purchasing requests at the level 80-90 $/t and refuse to make any deals now hoping for some situation improvement in the future.
It is worth noting that the demand prices come to farmers from a limited number of traders. Most buyers prefer to wait for all regions to start active harvesting.
