Ukrainian agrarians have completed corn harvesting on 93% of the area. As a result, in Ukraine 26.4 million tons of corn were harvested with a yield of 6.7 tons/ha, which corresponds to the USDA forecast of 27 million tons. The remaining corn will be harvested in spring. But due to the warm winter, the grain in the fields has spoiled, and its quality will not meet the export requirements.
Purchase prices remain at a low level
The purchase prices of corn in Ukraine remain stable at a low level of about 200-210 USD per ton with delivery to the ports. Farmers have to accept such a level because they have to be prepared for the spring sawing campaign financially. Another reason is a strong delay in acceptance at the ports due to the delay in the approach of vessels due to the artificial blocking of vessel inspections by the Russian delegation.
Corn export volumes from Ukraine are not as bad as other grains
The volume of exports of grain and leguminous crops from Ukraine in 2022/23 as of February 15 amounted to almost 29.7 million tons, which is 29% less than last season.
Thus, wheat export reduced by 41% compared with last year’s volumes. 10.55 million tons of wheat have been shipped since the beginning of the season.
The supply of barley to foreign markets amounted to 1.96 million tons. this is 65% less than last year.
Corn export reduced only by 6% and reached 17.1 million tons.
