The global economic crisis also favored Brazilian chicken exports in 2022 due to rising inflation. Consumers turned to cheaper sources of animal protein to control their monthly expenses.

China remained the largest importer, with 540.5 thousand tons between January and December 2022. This was 15.6% less than the 640.4 thousand tons imported in 2021. In second place was the United Arab Emirates, which imported 444.9 thousand tons last year, up 14.2% from the previous year. The Philippines followed with 246.3 thousand tons (+46.5%), the European Union with 237.9 thousand tons (+22.8%) and South Korea with 185.4 thousand tons (+62.9%).
