India’s 5% broken parboiled is offered by exporters at $365 to $372 per tonne this week, stable like last week.

Thailand’s 5% broken rice prices narrowed to $408-$410 per tonne this week, from $408-$412 quoted a week ago. Overseas demand for Thai rice has been silent due to the less availability of ships and high freight rates.

Vietnam’s 5% broken rice is quoted at $400-$415 per tonne this week, down from $415-$420 per tonne from the previous week. According to some traders, domestic arrival is rising thanks to production from the winter-spring harvest. Though, the quality has been affected due to rain during harvest time.

The government has extended subsidized food grain distribution by six months, local supplies will increase and prices might not increase further.

As per shipment data, 72 thousand tonnes of rice were scheduled to be loaded at Ho Chi Minh City port during the first week of April, with most of the grains were heading to the Philippines and Africa. Vietnam’s rice exports in the first three months are assumed to have increased 25% from the previous year by 1,475 million tonnes, raising revenue by 10.5% to $715 million.
