About 2.97 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were sold from Russia, which increased the export of wheat by 2.6 times during the first 19 days of June. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the monitoring data of the Russian Grain Union (RGU).
As explained by the director of the analytical department of Russian Grain Union Elena Tyurina, 2.538 million tons of wheat (2.6 times more than on June 1-19, 2022), 286 thousand tons of corn (+2%) and 243 thousand tons of barley (-17%) were exported during the reporting period.
In addition, the demand for wheat since the beginning of the month, according to Tyurina, has increased in Egypt – 3.4 times, to 560 thousand tons. Large shipments were also sent to Türkiye and Saudi Arabia – 437 thousand tons and 137 thousand tons, respectively.
“Last year there were no shipments to Latin America, this year from July 1 to July 19, 76.8 thousand tons were sent to Mexico, 72 thousand tons – to Brazil,” said a representative of the RGU. – “Wheat shipments to Indonesia resumed as well – 54.5 thousand tons, to Nigeria – 27 thousand tons. 51.6 thousand tons were shipped to the UAE“.
A total of 59.75 million tons of grain, including 51.7 million tons of wheat, 4.3 million tons of barley and 3.7 million tons of corn have been shipped since the beginning of the season (from July 1, 2022).
“Thus, based on the projected volume of exports, taking into account the quota, which is valid through June 30, 2.3 million tons of major grains can potentially be shipped by the end of the season. At the same time export potential is higher – over 4.5 million tons, but shipments are limited by the export quota, “- added Elena Tyurina.
