Russia exported about 31.8 million tons of wheat in the period from July 2022 to February 2023, which is 5.8 million tons higher than the level in the same months last season. Such data was published by specialists of the analytical center “Rusagrotrans”.
“The pace of exports began to exceed the levels of previous seasons only in October 2022. At the same time, in February 2023, due to storms and precipitation, the export amounted to about 3.25 million tons, “analysts say.
The forecast for wheat exports until July 1, 2023 is still at a record 46 million tons (the previous record in the 2017/18 season was 42 million tons).
As Igor Pavensky, Director of the Strategic Marketing Department of Rusagrotrans, said during the Winter Grain Conference in Belokurikha, Turkey remains in the first place among the main importers of domestic wheat, which purchased 5.5 million tons in July-February against 4.9 million tons a year earlier. In second place is Egypt – 5.3 million tons (3.8 million tons in July-February 2021/22 MY). Kazakhstan closes the top three – a little more than 2 million tons (unchanged).
In fourth place was Saudi Arabia, which received 1.9 million tons (0.9 million tons), putting it ahead of Iran.
