On April 13, 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture of Slovakia banned the processing of grain imported from Ukraine, as well as the release of grain products from it to the domestic market.

This is stated in the message of the department.

The decision to restrict in Slovakia was made after a batch of wheat from Ukraine confirmed the presence of a pesticide that is banned in the EU. According to the report, 0.026 mg/kg of chlorpyrifos was found in wheat (the maximum permitted level is 0.01 mg/kg).

“The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, together with subordinate organizations, will ensure the selection of samples of all grain and flour from Ukraine already stored in Slovakia,” the ministry said.

The results of the analysis of the batch of Ukrainian grain will be reported by Slovakia to all EU member states and the Ukrainian ambassador.
