According to the results of the past calendar year, sales of olive oil in Spain exceeded the mark of 305 million liters. Such data are provided by analysts of the National Association of Industrial Packers and Edible Oil Refiners (Anierac).
According to experts, the Spanish market in 2022 faced a number of difficulties (loss of the olive harvest, increased costs for the production of finished products, etc.), but the decrease to the level of 2021 was insignificant – only 1.3% (309.35 million tons).
“In 2022, there was also a slight increase in sales of extra virgin olive oil,” Anierac added.
According to the association, in the fourth quarter of 2022, the volume of sales of extra virgin olive oil reached 31 million liters, which is almost 5% lower than the level of the same period of the previous year. At the same time, for the entire calendar year, 7.26 million liters were sold compared to 6.58 million liters in 2021 (+ 10%), experts added.
