European Grain Markets

  • Due to continued favorable weather across most of Europe, Strategie Grains raises its EU soft wheat production forecast for the new season by 1.1 to 130Mt.
  • At the same time, due to the drought in Spain and other countries in south-western Europe, forecasts for barley and maize production have been lowered.
  • Grain markets on MATIF yesterday fell for the fourth consecutive day since the beginning of the week and are on track to record another negative performance on a weekly basis.

American Grain Markets

  • The grain markets in Chicago are moving in different directions, but generally lower in price. With rainfall expected in the southern plains, wheat markets are reporting the biggest losses.
  • Soybean and corn markets are unchanged ahead of the report, with soybeans still managing to rise mainly, if not solely, due to a new daily sale announcement.

Black Sea Grain Markets

  • As always, the news from the negotiations on the extension of the “grain deal” is contradictory and if until late last night the news was that the negotiations were suspended, this morning the wording is that there is progress and the negotiations will continue on a “technical level”
  • Against the background of falling prices of grain agreed at international auctions, Russian analysts remind that stocks of wheat in Russia are 80% above normal, as for pre-harvest.
