Turkey entered the last week before Ramadan Holiday with sunny days and temperatures around 25 C.
The damage that occurred due to frost two weeks ago is not published as the determination studies are not completed yet.
Market players stated that the markets are extremely stagnant, so some exporters probably will not work the last two days of next week after the Ramadan holiday, which will last till Wednesday.
The raw material purchases from TMO went not as expected as exporters are not interested in buying sultana raisins due to poor demands from abroad. At the Commodity Exchange in Izmir, the raw material prices remain at 15,30 TL/kg for nr.8 and 15,70 TL/kg for Type nr.9.
The orders of the contracts made at the beginning of the season are currently being processed and exported, so the export figures are still high compared to last Season. Exporters have slightly reduced their prices and offer presently at 1.450-1.500 Usd/mt on FOB Izmir basis for type nr.9 and at 2.000-2.100 Usd/mt on FOB Izmir basis for organic type nr.9.
As of September 2022, the European Union will prohibit the entry of sultana raisins into European Union Countries if the active ingredients named indoxacarb, mancozeb, and famoxadone are found in the analyzes to be made on grapes. All pesticide dealers in Turkey are informed accordingly. So have the exporters already informed their growers that preliminary analysis will be made from the vineyards where the grapes will be cut and that grapes or dried raisins containing these active ingredients, unlicensed drugs, or grapes with more than five actives will not be bought.
The Turkish Lira continued as last week with slight fluctuations and noted today the Usd/TL rate at 14.76 TL (14.64 last week) and Euro/TL rate at 15.86 TL levels (15.82 last week).
Turkey’s total exports range at 166.946 mt until 23 April 2022, which was 149.570 mt the previous year during the same period. Turkey exported 4.921 mt of sultana raisins last week, being 3.514 mt during the same week of the previous Season.
