ODESA: According to APK-Inform, since mid-July there has been an increase in purchase prices for sunflower seeds in Ukraine.
This trend was facilitated by a decrease in trade activity. Agrarians restrained their sales of sunflower seeds, considering the prevailing demand prices of processors to be too low. Prices were also supported by the National Bank of Ukraine increase in the fixed hryvnia exchange rate against the US dollar by almost 25%. It should be noted that the increase in the cost of logistics has significantly reduced the geography of purchases of oilseeds. Oil producers began to give preference to purchases with a minimum logistical leverage.
However, prices continued to be pressured by record volumes of oilseed ending stocks and a lack of storage capacity.
Thus, during last two weeks purchase prices for oilseeds increased by 50-80 $/t and as of August 4, they mainly vary within 450-480 $/t FCA.
