Low Sales and Slumping Prices
Feedback from market participants in Tianjin indicates that the sunflower seed market has been significantly affected by the hot weather this week, with temperatures in some areas exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. As a result, sunflower seed market sales have been low, and prices have slumped.
Inventory Digestion and Export Market Slowdown
Traders are focusing on digesting their inventory as the export market enters its off-season. The export market in the Middle East is primarily driven by on-demand procurement during the summer. According to Zhuochuang Information, the price of sunflower seeds is expected to fall further in the summer.
Domestic Market Enters Off-Season
The domestic sunflower market has also entered its off-season, characterized by low supply and light demand across all regions. This trend is likely to continue as the summer progresses.
Current Export Prices
This week, the export reference price of 361 standard sunflower seeds (200-210 grains/50g) is US$1,430-1,470 per tonne. The export reference price for 190-200 grains/50g is US$1,410-1,440 per tonne. Market participants are advised to pay close attention to price changes in the coming weeks.
The sunflower seed market is facing a challenging period due to extreme weather conditions and seasonal demand fluctuations. Traders and exporters should remain vigilant and adjust their strategies accordingly to navigate this period.
