The Dry Weather in August Affected the Sunflower Crop in Bulgaria

VARNA – The dry weather and the insufficient rainfalls in Bulgaria affected the new sunflower crop, and as a result, the seeds have remained smaller in size, and the yields will be lower than expected. Because of this, the farmers are reluctant to sell their crops at lower price levels and try to obtain higher prices to compensate for the lower yields.

The next 2-3 weeks will be crucial, and if the situation is not so bad in most regions, there is a chance for price improvement when the harvesting is started on a large scale. However, if the price trend turns upwards, this will indicate that the situation is worse than expected. Hopefully, the larger planted areas will compensate for the August drought and provide enough seeds for the oil and hulling industry.
