The USA Continue Negotiations to Expand the Ways of Grain Export From Ukraine

Spread the news!

The USA is constantly in touch with Ukraine and its neighbours to increase the use of alternative ways of exporting Ukrainian grain. The Wall Street Journal writes about it with reference to American officials.

Ukraine has to develop exports through Danube ports

Firstly, the plan is to increase the capacity of Ukraine to export grain through the Danube to four million tons per month. Thus, most of the products will be sent down the river and across the Black Sea to ports in Romania and on to other countries. Such a route will be slower and more expensive than the Black Sea Grain Corridor, but will become its alternative.

According to the article, the States are considering all options for the protection of vessels going to and from the Danube ports of Ukraine. It can even include military solutions.

EU continues the development of “corridors of solidarity”

Also, the USA will support Ukraine by supporting the initiative of the European Union regarding “corridors of solidarity”.  “Corridors of solidarity” assume road, rail and sea routes for the transportation of Ukrainian grain and other goods.

Officials in the EU believe that Ukraine will be able to export an average of 5 to 5.5 million tons of grain per month through these routes. Currently, the largest indicator was 4.2 million tons of export – in November 2022. In June 2023, 3 million tons of food went for export from Ukraine in this way.
