The Agreement, “Transport Visa-Free Regime”, signed last year freed Ukrainian carriers from the need to obtain permits for bilateral and transit transportation to the EU states, becoming one of the important decisions for Ukrainian exporters.
This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration – Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksandr Kubrakov.
“In addition, Ukrainian and European driver’s licenses issued by one of the parties were exempted from the requirement to have an International Driving Permit. This has allowed carriers to avoid many bureaucratic procedures and simplify logistics at the border,” he said.
During the first year, the agreement has proven its practical effectiveness. The volume of bilateral and transit road freight increased by more than 50%.
“Together with European partners, we are currently developing the necessary logistics infrastructure at the border. In particular, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 2 new checkpoints have been opened on the border with Romania, as well as a control point on temporary infrastructure for the passage of empty cargo vehicles on the border with Poland. In addition, they expanded the capacity of the Krakowiec-Korchova point and streamlined the work of the Yagodyn-Dorohusk point on the border with Poland,” Kubrakov said.
