Thus, most of the oil in the reporting period was purchased from Russia and Ukraine – 44 thousand tons and 33 thousand tons against 45 thousand tons and 5 thousand tons in May, respectively.
According to OilWorld (Germany), since the beginning of the current season (October 2021 – June 2022), Turkish importers have already purchased 830 thousand tons of sunflower oil, which is 237 thousand tons less than the same period last season.
“It should be noted that Turkey significantly increased the import of sunflower seeds in June – up to 151 thousand tons, which significantly exceeds the figure in June 2021 (37 thousand tons) and is the maximum figure for this period over the past 2 years. At the same time, most of the oilseeds were supplied to the country from Ukraine,” the report says.
In general, since the beginning of the current season, the volume of sunflower imports has been inferior to last year’s figure – 449 thousand tons against 819 thousand tons, respectively.
