Turkish Grain Exports Increasing

In the first half of this year, the Turkish grain industry realized an export of 5.44 billion dollars with an increase of 31.5 percent compared to the same period of 2021.

The Turkish grain industry continued its upward momentum in exports in the first half of this year as well. According to the data of the Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association (IHBIR), the union’s exports in June increased by 27.72 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and rose to 298,726 million dollars.

While the exports of the grain sector in Turkey in general in June reached 998,502 million dollars with an increase of 30.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, the overall exports of Turkey in the January-June period increased by 31.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and became 5.44 billion dollars.

In June, the top 3 countries to which the grain industry exports the most were Iraq, the USA and Syria, respectively. The first 3 countries to which IHBIR exports the most in June were the USA, Iraq and Algeria.

The Union exported $27.17 million to the USA with an increase of 6.26 percent, $23.37 million to Iraq with an increase of 88.05 percent, and $19.28 million to Algeria with an increase of 665.36%.

While exports to EU member countries were 86.98 million dollars in the grain sector last month, it was 498.82 million dollars in the first half of this year.

In the January-June period, the top 3 countries to which IHBIR exports the most were the USA, Iraq and Israel.

In terms of goods groups, the highest export was made in sugar and sugar products with 59.76 million dollars, food preparations were in the second place with 57.81 million dollars, and pastry products were in the third place with 54.62 million dollars.
