A new decision has been taken in Türkiye, where wheat harvest will start in May. In order to stabilize wheat prices in the domestic market and to ensure that citizens eat cheap bread, the customs duty on wheat imports, which had been zeroed, now increased to 130 percent with the Presidential Decree as the harvest was approaching. This rate will be effective as of May 1.
Starting next month, the import duty on wheat, barley, corn, rye, oats and sorghum will be 130%, compared to 0% currently. The Ministry of Trade will implement the decision published in the official gazette.
